Spring on the Farm

I love spring and we are trying to enjoy the warmer weather as much as possible, especially after the long, harsh winter we endured.  This weekend there was an event at the Stamford Nature Center called Spring on the Farm.  You can click (here) to see what it was all about.  There were crafts, face painting, hay rides, baby animals, food trucks, ice cream, demonstrations, hikes, live music, herbs and plants for sale among lots of other things.  We really enjoyed this event and the weather.  Such a great and relaxed atmosphere.  We are definitely getting our membership worth this year!
Katie is brushing her sheeps hair.  We had already washed it and rinsed it and spun it dry, next comes the brushing.

Then the twisting.  She twisted it all by herself and is holding up her yarn she made.

Mikey petting baby goats.

They were so cute and only 1 or 2 weeks old.

Time for a hay ride around the nature center.

These kids ate almost the entire time we were here.

It was as big as her face.

Same with his.

Time for a little painting.

Mikey chose a red snake.

Katie getting her hand painted.

If you stop staring at her gorgeous eyes, you'll see the pretty rainbow on her hand. :)

I'm glad we ate lunch semi early.  The place really filled in later in the afternoon.

Baaaa.  This sheep wanted some of our popcorn and came charging after us.

Katie during the llama trek.  This is a mini-llama (only 1,000 left).  She also got a kiss, which you'll see.

Shirley the llama gave Katie a kiss at the end of the walk.  The lady from the newspaper got a picture and everyone thought it was super cute.  Perhaps this picture made it in the local paper.

Giving her a pet before we go.

A snow cone treat before we leave.  They had enough "treats" for the entire week or maybe even 2 weeks!

She walks so slow with her snow cone.

Scott and Mikey blazed their own trail and ended up in mud.

A huge section of antique farm equipment.  The kids threw corn down the chute to shuck the corn as you can see the bucket in the bottom right corner.

Then you take the corn and feed it through the grinder.  Daddy helped turn the wheel.

Later in the afternoon, I was stuck in the rocking chair  in the sun room with this little guy napping. :)
It was a good day!
