The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

Tonight we ventured to the Van Cortland Manor in the Hudson Valley to see the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze.  There, we met up with our friends The Schilb's to look at over 5,000 hand carved pumpkins.  I'm finding it hard to describe exactly what it is since it is nothing like I have seen before.

The pumpkins were carved and then placed in a way to represent a character as a whole, or an animal or a scene, etc.  There was an enormous spider web, snakes, butterflies, ghosts, safari animals, dinosaurs, monsters, a flower garden, bugs and spiders.....I can't even remember what all we saw since there was so much.

Overall it was a great night and a perfect way to spend a warm fall evening.

The glow from the pumpkins gave this tree a surreal orange hue.

Garden of flowers made out of pumpkins.

A sunflower.

Gorilla.

Giraffe and tiger.

All hand carved.  Check out the detail on the face.

A cemetery.

Huge tarantulas.

And the enormous spider web.
