Quassy Amusement Park

Scott took off on Friday so we are kicking off our Labor Day weekend a day early by taking the kids to Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury, CT.   It's about a 50 minute drive from our home and such a pretty one at that.  We have heard great things about this place from our neighbor who said it was just perfect for our kids ages.

I must say it was a perfect little amusement park.  It was very small, so small that I didn't need my stroller and it was right on the edge of this beautiful lake.  It had rides tailored to little kids and also a huge water park and a beach along the lake too.  We went early and had the entire park to ourselves for 30 minutes.  We must have went on 5 or 6 rides where we were the only ones on the ride.  The kids were able to go on every single ride except for only a few.  Next year they will definitely be able to go on everything and we can't wait to take them back!

A beautiful, cool day. Perfect for the amusement park.

Oh yeah, this will be a fun day!

The Mikey face!

Their own boat ride.

Riding rides makes you really thirsty.

Spinning Teacups.  Sorry Katie your face got cut off.

Oh there you are making a funny face.

Spin kids spin!

Tilt a whirl.  If you can't tell they are both sticking out their tongues.

Tilt a whirl with this girl.

More rides.  See the beautiful lake in the background.

Sweet moment captured.  Smiling at something the kids said.

Lots of little playgrounds to play on too.

Why won't this hippo go?

How do we get on top?!!!

Just snap your fingers?!!

Fighting because there just isn't room for two in this pouch.

Still trying to get comfortable.

Hey Mom, this is like the chicken in your kitchen.
(She doesn't yet know the difference between a rooster and chicken.)
After spending hours in the ride section of the amusement park and going on every possible ride, sometimes more than once it was time to change into our suits and take advantage of the huge, colorful water park, full of water slides, sprinklers, water shooters, hoses and all the other bells and whistles they usually have.  I only have a few pictures as you can imagine how hard it is to wrangle two little kids at a water park with millions of hiding spots and lots of people.  We all went down the water slides.  Scott was like a little kid and so excited to go down the water slides..  It was cute.  I went down that green slide you see below.  The super steep slide! The water was supplied from the lake and it was really really cold.  The kids lasted about 50 minutes before they were shivering uncontrollably. After that they warmed up in their towels and Scott and I traded off and on watching the kids so we could each go and play some more.

The little kiddie section, which they didn't want to play in.

Jaws!!

A huge bucket at the saturation station.

The ride home.

Happens every time we go to a theme park.

:)
