Mianus State Park

When Scott and I lived in Colorado and the weather was nice, we would spend Friday night detailing which hike we would do that weekend. We would wake up super early, shovel some oatmeal in our mouths and go on an awesome hike in the Rocky Mountains.  The sites were so beautiful and the air so crisp and refreshing that we couldn't get enough.  We absolutely loved discovering new sites that you just don't see from the roads and getting in some great cardio.  That's what we did every single Saturday morning and that's what we want to do more of with our kids.

On this Labor Day weekend, we have been busy soaking up as much time with the kids as we can before school starts.  After having such a great time exploring at Croton Gorge Park and remembering all the good times Scott and I had of hiking, I decided to make more of an effort to get our whole family out to hike more.  They are now older, have longer legs and more stamina to go on longer walks and it would be great to let them in on the joys that hiking can bring.

We went on a beautiful walk at Mianus State Park right outside of Bedford, NY.  It's only about 12 minutes from our home and has many different trails.  We'll be back to do more exploring.

The sun is shining and we are ready to start.

A natural stone bridge was so cool.

The trails were well marked.

The trail took us down near the stream.  So pretty.
In the evening we took the kids down to the marina in Stamford for some seafood dinner and to check out the boats.
At the Crab Shell for dinner.

The Marinas at Harbor Point.  The kids liked picking out their favorite boat and walking on the docks.
We finished off our beautiful day by playing in the back yard.
Who knew my husband was a professional frisbee thrower?!  The stuff they learn in college.
