It's Apple Picking Time

We went back to Harvest Moon Orchard again this year in New York and took my parents along for the experience since they were here visiting us.  The family enjoyed apple cider donuts, pulled pork sandwiches, hot cocoa, popcorn and picking lots of apples.  It was a bit frustrating this year actually picking apples since there were many new apple trees on the orchard with perfectly looking apples to pick however they were all sectioned off as the owners didn't want hoards of people to trample the ground near the susceptible new trees.  I can sort of see where they are coming from having a new baby that I don't want lots of people to be near.

In any event, there was lots of space to roam around, thousands of pumpkins to touch and huge crowds of people to navigate around.  Apple Picking is an extremely popular thing to do around this are in October.

First ones at the Orchard.  It was very cold this early in the morning.
Technically the orchards weren't open for picking until later in the day however we sweet talked our way in to start picking early.  We practically had the whole orchard to ourselves for a bit.

Nana ready to pick some apples!

Now if only Nana and Papa could actually find a tree to pick apples from.  See the ropes in the background sectioning off those new trees?

The beautiful Hudson Valley in the background is so pretty during Fall.

The kids already running way down the hill!

These two love birds.

We walked all over looking for apples to pick.

She found one!

Resting their feet and taking in the sites from the top of the hill!

"Hey."  That got them to turn around.

Well we didn't pick many apples from trees but we did pick a whole bunch from crates.  They were perfectly fine apples too!

Picking out a pumpkin.

Picking out a pumpkin.

Now laying on the pumpkins.

Farmer Scott looks super happy!

They love cuddling with Emily.

Emily found the biggest pumpkin of them all!
