WORK

Mikey loves to "WORK" not "PLAY."  He's constantly talking about work, daddy goes to "work", the men on the street "work", the doorman "works", the garbage man, arborists, truck drivers on youtube all "work" and of course Mikey "works."

I think I've mentioned before how he takes his fireman hat, hatchet, and now hammers (yes, that's plural) and even some tool puzzle pieces with us when we leave the apartment.  He must have them when we go to the parks!

He even recently started wearing one of my belts around the house that he can tuck tools into.  His pants pockets, just didn't do it anymore, now that he's accumulating more and more stuff!

Shoving more tools into his tool belt!

We are constantly rearranging his tools.  If something falls out he yanks them all out and throws them on the floor and we start fresh!

Sometimes he also wears the brown belt he's holding.

So excited to start chopping.

This particular tree needed some bark removed before chopping commenced.

Found a long misplace branch in Central Park that needed to be moved.

All in days work

Here's what we did today -

Mikey played in his "fort" - then he watched the repair man try to fix and then replace the dishwasher and a sleepy Katie got a snuggle from Mommy.
It's just the right size for him.  He likes to color, close the doors and open the window.

He kept pointing at the repair man saying excitedly "work!"

Katie bug took a nap on me and was just waking up.

Spring is here!

Our first family trip to Central Park!  It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of firsts.  Our first taxi ride in the city, seeing horse drawn carriages, walking thru the Central Park Zoo and letting Mikey be our guide.  Rather than us telling him where to go, he led the way and we all ended up all the way on the West Side!
Daddy and Mikey in the taxi.  Mikey was so excited!

Katie was snug in the baby carrier and looking all around.

Walking thru the Central Park Zoo. We followed the leader!

Can't visit a park without a stop to chop down trees and pick up branches.

A little peek a boo view of the city from CP.

Crumbs Bakery

We got the Baba Booey and the peanut butter cup.

This could spell trouble for me. Crumbs Bakery has the biggest, most delicious cupcakes!

NY living

The weather in New York City has ben gorgeous!  Mid to upper 60's even 70 plus degree weather has been very enjoyable.  It's actually perfect park hunting weather! So far we've been to 6 parks.
I actually just found my camera charger which was lost until I unpacked the last of the boxes a few days ago so I took a bunch of pictures 1 or 2 days at the park.  So forgive me for the week plus lag in not having any pictures (wasn't able to get any pics. on St. Patty's Day either - which we spent at the parade on 5th avenue).

Our days are as follows; go to one of the parks close to our apt. after Katie's morning nap around 9:30 - 11:30.  Come home for lunch and put the kids down for their afternoon naps.  Feed them a snack and go back to another close park from 2:30 until 4:30.  Come home and make dinner, bath, clean up the house and bedtime.

We also find ourselves most days near the subway on 86th street.  We go to the bank, grocery shopping, Barnes and Noble (for story time on Wednesdays),  restaurants, shopping (H&M, Gap, Banana Republic, Nine West, Athleta, Aldo).  It's a very busy place!

Walking home we usually walk down 2nd avenue to give Mikey great views of construction equipment.  They are putting in another subway line, so the street is line with every piece of equipment imaginable.

We've also found lots of places for Kids, that offer free kids classes!  We have gone 2 to already and have 2 more set up.  We'll see what we like best before enrolling the kiddos.

Note the hat and hatchet.  We take this with us to the park EVERYDAY.

Mikey finally gets the concept that we have to be quite when the baby is sleeping.
Sshhhhhhh.

She turns her head way to the left and sucks her thumb to put herself to sleep.

Erica's Baby Shower

About 5 days after we moved into our new place, I took a trip back home with the kids to attend my sister's baby shower. She was due on April 13th, but had the baby 4 weeks early.  She gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy.  Joseph August Weis who was 4 lbs. 9 oz.  She had 8 days from the day of her baby shower, to the time they decided to deliver!  Her shower was super cute and had an airplane   theme inspired by her husband's job.  We found some inspiration on pinterest and went a little crazy with the airplane theme.  We couldn't help it!  Here's a few photos from that day!

Great Grandma Jirik holding Katie for the 1st time.

Lunch served as though you were getting it on an airplane!

Party favors getting put together. Deck of cards, gum, airplane cookies and sweet/salty snack.
 All airplane related!

Quench your thirst with some jet fuel!

Katie 7 months old!

Just like I do every month, I'll say it again.  I can't believe how big and fast our little baby is growing.  She's already 7 months?!  WHAT?! When did this happen?

At 7 months:
Katie is TEETHING (and drooling)!  (The teething has seemed to affect Katie much more so than I remember with Mikey).  We've tried numbing gel, teething rings, cold apples (which do the trick when awake), acetaminophen, cold carrots (which stain clothes/hands), cold water in a beginner sippy cup (works when awake).  A friend suggested an amber teething necklace, which after a day or 2 has seemed to do the trick.

Katie is waking once at night to feed.  I'm still tring to get her to take a sippy cup/bottle.  It's a work in progress.

Katie gets mad when you take a toy away from her and wiggles and squirms to get at a toy.

Katie is practicing tummy time a few times a day, but still likes to just roll over and be lazy with a capital L.

Katie loves following Mikey around with her eyes and watch everything he does.  She loves getting attention from him.  When Mikey loves her he really LOVES her!  It's cute to watch, but I also have to referee.

Katie is Daddy's Pretty Princess, which he reminds her of every day.

Katie gives the biggest smiles and laughs so hard when she thinks something is funny.

Katie gets compliments all the time when we are out and about!
7 months big!

Such a pretty girl!

Posing with her doll.

There's that smile.  Hamming it up for the camera!

She still loves Sophie the Giraffe.

Exercising - with her leg warmers on.  Flashback to the 80's.

Work those stomache muscles Katie!
