Christmas Party Time

Tonight we went to a Christmas party/engagement party for college friends of Scott's that live in mid-town.  It was so nice to have some adult time, adult drinks and adult food.  We met some new people that live here in the city, NJ and CT; which is always nice and refreshing and even met some of Scott's friends that go way back.

Taken near the end of the nite.  Brian, Brent, Tom and Scott.  Brent the obliterated one was the one hosting the party.

Us....after I ate half the brie wheel.  Ugh.

Shaving Cream Sensation

I think I will let the pictures speak for themselves in this post.  2 cans of shaving cream + toys and a bucket of water = 2 hours of the most fun I've ever had in my life, said Mikey.  He asks for shaving cream reguarly now.  (Katie freaked out a little anytime the shaving cream touched her, hence why she is only in the first pic.)  This $2 activity beats any $30, 2 hour class anyday of the week for us!

okay- here we go.  He's beginning to get the shaving cream out of the canister.

A Mike Tyson tattoo made out of shaving cream.

A little cleaned off and ready for round 2.

So busy working.

Scrub scrub scrub.

Whoa.

This mess was huge but easy to clean.  Just turn shower on to rinse him and the tub off.

Dylan's Candy Bar

On our walk back from Santaland at Macy's we stopped at Dylan's Candy Bar.  It always looks so fun from the outside each time we walk past it.  I finally decided no time like now to take a peek inside.  Wow~ candy overload!!!

Mikey was excited once he learned she was making cotton candy!

He loved the big gumball machine!

We sat in one of these cute little cupcake tables.

Trying to get to the gumballs in the table.

Peanut butter explosion.  I think this satisfied our sweet cravings for a year.

Taking a swig....

.....he loved it!

Katie trying some too.

Fun candy display on the ceiling.

They each picked a dum dum for later.

Santaland at Macys

Today we decided to go back to try and see Santa at Santaland in Macy's.  By no one's fault but my own I assumed that Santa would be there right when the store opened.  So we all took a cab in the rain down to Macy's and was there by 7:15am...(Scott stayed in the taxi and went to work from there)....Santa didn't show up until 9.  After waiting about 2 hours we finally were ready to see Santa.  Santaland was amazing and had lots to look at which was really neat.  We even sent our letters to Santa in the mailbox.  Mikey wanted a green yoyo and a small remote control snow plow truck.  Katie said she wanted a pillow.  When Santa was in site Mikey flipped out....total kicking and screaming tantrum, flailing on the floor.  Yup!  Katie didn't mind sitting on Santa's lap at all.  Not exactly how I envisioned our trip to see Santa going but it's a good story to tell.  After that I walked all the way from 7th and 34th (Macy's), home in the light rain...not sure I'll be doing that again.  We stopped at Dylan's Candy Bar for lunch on the walk home.

Train before you enter Santaland.

Sending our letters to Santa.

Hum....she wasn't quite sure.

Mikey wanted nothing to do with Santa.

Another view of the tree on our walk back home.

Sunday shopping

Today we split into two groups and did our own things with the kids.  Katie and I went down near Rockerfeller and had to pick up a few things at Saks and stopped at Starbucks for some juice.  We took in the great window displays at Saks and also got an up close view of the tree.  So pretty!  Scott took Mikey on the subway and went to the building that Scott works in.  Mikey still thought that Scott works on an airplane at the airport (When we were living in Chicago Scott traveled 3 out of 4 weeks to Long Island to work on a client and so we told Mikey that Daddy went to work on the airplane.  Hearing that for over a year has stuck with him!) So we thought it was long overdue that Mikey knew exactly where Scott worked.  After that they both went to the FDNY Store near Radio City Music Hall.  There they had a huge fire truck with all the buttons to push that Mikey loved.  Of course he came home with some fire trucks.
It was a great low-key morning.  Pics. below from my adventure with Katie.  Scott and Mikey were to busy to snap any pics.

Rockerfeller Tree.

Window display with books that opened and closed at Saks.

Lots and lots of snow globes that spun around.  Katie loved this!

Sweet Katie waiting for the subway.

KPMG DPP Christmas Party

Tonight we had a Christmas Party with all of Scott's co-workers and fellow KPMG Mom friends! Friends Beth and Shaun invited everyone over to their building on the UWS.  We had a pot-luck dinner, and a Christmas gift exchange for the kids.  They had crafts for the kids, extra baby sitters around to help watch the kids and an awesome kid room overflowing with toys. I'm still waiting for my kids to get older so I can have a proper conversation.  Everyone had a lot of fun, we also celebrated a birthday and the arrival of two KPMG babies due in the next 2 months!

Scoping out the play room.

Love him.

I can never get a family pic. of all of us.  Mikey ran off!

Playing hide and seek with Maddie.

Probably about 1/3 of the group.

They loved the play room.  We will definitely be back.
Waiting to open his present.

Excited.

Katie wanting to open hers too.

Mikey got this lion that you squeeze and it shoots out balls.

Katie got a baby doll perfect for the stroller.

She saw me doing yoga one day in the living room......

.....which resulted in her doing downward dog just about everywhere we go.

Craft time.

Mary and I.  The only mom pic. I was able to snag. It was crazy with all the kids there!

My best girl friend and I.

The Art Farm Holiday Party

Today we spent the morning at the Art Farm in the City.  Mikey's last day of school for this semester was on Wednesday the 12th however we went back to school today for their Holiday Party.  Katie and I even got to join in on the fun!

We spent time watching, petting, saying "Hi" to the animals on the farm.  Then we made gingerbread houses out of paper bags and lots of glue, glitter, buttons, and Christmas decorations.  Next we made Christmas sugar cookies, which consisted of getting flour all over ourselves, pounding out the dough, and using cookie cutters. I think we would have ended up with more cookies if the kids didn't sneak nibbles of the cookie dough.  We finished up the morning with some live music by the guitarist.  What a fun and exhausting morning.  We have more holiday parties coming up!  I love this time of year!!

Katie loved all the animals.  Here she is with the chinchilla.

Checking out the toads.

Saying "Hi!" really loudly to the bird.

He was more interested in playing that petting the animals.

She followed Benny everywhere.

Making cookies.

Rolling out the dough.

Music time.

Taking a little rest listening to the guitar.

Shaking some bells.

Fun with scarves.

Weee.

Shaking the maracas.

Getting sleepy.

Waiting to catch one of the balls.

Time for a snack.  Katie kept taking the drink that belonged to the girl sitting next to her.

Our cookies we worked very hard making.

Their gingerbread house.
