We are getting just pounded with some major snow storms....one right after the other. Punxsutawney Phil wasn't kidding when he predicted 6 more weeks of winter! Our first snow storm we had about 6-8 inches of really fluffy snow. It was so cold that the individual snowflakes didn't melt together, so we could basically brush all that snow away with a broom. Two days later and we were hit with another major snow storm. This time it was warmer outside and so the snow was super heavy. Another 8 inches! Followed by sleet and freezing rain to top that 8 inches with another 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice. Ugh. It was back breaking work to shovel the steps, our long side walk and the two vehicles out.
The kids had such a fun time playing outside. I just love it when they play in the cold weather. It takes just an hour for them to be zapped of all their endless energy. Playing in the snow is either followed by long naps or an early bed time. A win either way!

I wish we had actual kid snow shovels, but they seemed pleased enough with their beach shovels. |

We were outside shoveling for an hour but after 10 minutes and this is how I found Katie. Tired already? |

Mikey moving the snow that we shoveled into a huge pile back onto the ground. |

She is light enough to not sink into the hard ice layer. |

Taking a break. |

The elusive Mikey he won't pose for pics. so action shots are all I get. Luckily, this snowball didn't land in my face when I took this. |

Can you tell from this pic. who is winning in the snow ball fight?!! |
|
Having fun! |

We made some homemade potato soup that morning to take to our elderly neighbors. They were much appreciative and the kids were so proud- they excitedly shared how they salted and stirred. |
