Easter 2012

Easter morning was no different than any other morning.  The kids were both up at 6 am, just as the sun was rising.  By 6:15 Mikey was breaking into his first bites of candy!  We enjoyed our first Easter in Manhattan.  Overall, it was a pretty relaxing, low key day for us.  Mikey spotted his Easter Basket first thing in the morning.  (For future Easter's, I will be serving breakfast before letting them break into their Easter goodies.)  For breakfast Mikey enjoyed munching on lollipops, a reese's easter egg and jellybeans.  Katie munched on the wrapping to her Easter Candy but didn't actually eat any.

We went to church, the park and while the kids took naps at the same time, I enjoyed some me time and took a long run through Central Park.  It was a gorgeous day that was finished with our traditional Easter dinner.

Easter baskets held chocolate bunnies, eggs filled with jelly beans, and some other goodies.  Katie received a rubber ducky from Grandma Muir and Mikey received some bunny finger puppets.

Central Park Easter Egg Hunt

This morning we met up with other KPMG Mom's that live in Manhattan.  We each had to bring eggs filled with goodies for the kiddos to find.  It was my first time meeting most of the moms and we had a good time!  It would have been better if Mikey wasn't totally enthralled with the Central Park workers who were cutting down tree limbs and turning them into tan bark a few hundred yards from us. 

I spent most of the time wrangling Mikey from wandering away to far from the group.  He could have cared less about the egg hunt once he spotted the trucks. Katie was her usual sweet self!  Here's to hoping I can actually have conversations with them at furture gatherings.

Wow - only 4 more months until our little baby girl is celebrating her first birthday! 

At 8 months:

Katie gets really mad/pissed when you take something away from her.  She throws a fit!
Katie is still lazy when it comes to tummy time.  Once you put her on her stomach she rolls right over and is content just laying on her back.  She has no interest in rolling back onto her stomach.

She loves to laugh at Mikey and Mikey loves to make Katie laugh.
Katie is down to 2 naps a day; typically from 9 to 10 in the morning and again from 2 to 4 in the afternoon.
She eats food during breakfast, lunch and dinner and wants to be with us at the table eating when we eat.

She wakes once at night.
Katie likes to sip out of a sippy cup although half of it dribbles down her chin.
Katie is still a total momma's girl and loves to get her picture taken.

Just swinging around

Here are some pictures of what we've been doing around the end of March and beginning of April.

Katie has been going on lots of stroller rides.  Both kids don't complain about being in the stroller.  Sometimes getting them in the stroller takes force patience, but once we are outside, away we go!

Mikey and Katie also recently discovered how fun it is to swing on swings.  I have a ton of pictures of them swinging!  It's pretty cute when they can swing side by side! Below are just 3 different parks that we've visited on 4 different occasions.  They have to try out the swings at every park!

More peas please!

Katie is just starting out on finger foods.  It's so cute to watch her try to grasp items and see her move her little fingers just so.  She's still working on hand-eye coordination.

Carl Schurz Park Easter Egg Hunt

Every once in a while we like to do things with just one of the kiddos.  To give them some one on one attention from either Scott or I.  So on Sunday, April 1st (while Katie was at home napping with Scott) I took Mikey to the park a few blocks away from our place called Carl Schurz Park.  They throw a free Easter Party every year.

This particular year they held it on Sunday (Saturday festivities were rained out) and it was still a little cloudy, so the crowds weren't as crazy as they usually are (or so I was told). 

Mikey and I had so much fun!  They held 3 separate egg hunts.  The nice thing about these egg hunts was that you didn't really have to hunt for the eggs, as they just threw the thousands of bright plastic eggs on top of the brown tan bark.  Mikey didn't quite understand at first and so he just decided to help spread the eggs around by kicking them.  It was only after he discovered that some eggs had candy in them that he really got into it!   We came home with about 40 eggs filled with candy, stickers, stamps, bunny finger puppets, bubbles, egg necklaces.  Mikey even got to decorate his own little easter egg bag.  (We did not wait in the hour long line to get his face painted!)  Here are just a few pics from our egg hunting.  Of course our outting wasn't complete without taking the hatchet to some trees.
