Happy Father's Day

We celebrated Scott and all the special and important Dad's in our lives today!  We started our day by praising God at church, then it was off to the movie theater to see "Inside Out"  which we all enjoyed.  Followed by a walk in downtown Stamford to enjoy lunch outside in the warm and sunny weather.  After that we went next door to 16 Handles where the kids and Scott gobbled up some frozen ice cream with toppings.  In the afternoon the kids played in the sprinkler in the backyard and sprayed each other with the hose.  Overall it was a great day filled with quality family time.

We love you Scott and are so proud of you.  Thank you for being so loving and compassionate and pretending to be a playground for the kids to climb all over you, for giving the kids tushy crabs that make them wiggle like crazy, for pretending to cry like a baby that makes the kids hoot and laugh without a care in the world, for being patient while we teach them how to read, for being the most efficient Dad to shower the kids in the evenings when we are pressed for time and for giving me three precious individuals that will always be my babies.  I love you!

I'm glad I remembered to pack snacks and drinks. These kids are starving any time they watch a movie.

Happy Father's Day Daddy!

These are all over downtown Stamford.

Sometimes they just have to go into the water right this second.  No time to take off clothes.

She likes to pose now whenever I take a picture.

Post No. 2

They tried to lay down flat so the sprinkler wouldn't get them before going back in the other direction but they couldn't sit quite still enough and it would get them every time.

Turning the slide into a water slide.  That's mud on her butt, not something else!

She looked down and realized how dirty she was and started to cry....

.....I mean sobbing.

Getting hosed off before allowed back in the house.

Hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day.

Just another Saturday

I've been trying to keep the kids busy on the weekends, since Scott has been so consumed with work lately.  We do lots of playing outside and doing the kids cooking classes at Williams-Sonoma just to cool off a bit when it's hot outside.

Here's a typical Saturday!

The kids love their playground at our new home.

Swinging away!  Mikey likes to go as high as possible.

We consume a lot of watermelon during the summer months.

We met our good friends who just moved here from the city at the cooking class.

Pizza making time.

Listening to instructions.

Telling the cooking instructor what kind of toppings he wants to put on his pizza.
Eating the pie he made.

Here's Katie's pie!

Yum.  She can't help but get pizza all over her face.

Snuggles from Daddy.  If I leave these two alone for longer than 15 minutes, she always ends up falling asleep on her Daddy.  Ugh.  Screws up the rest of the day and mean while Scott has a smirk on his face saying, oops.  Yeah, right!

Christening Pool Party

This perfect summer day was enjoyed celebrating the christening of a dear friend's baby.  We had so much fun loving on sweet baby Everette.  He's 4 months old and I've never heard him make a peep.  EVER!  Such a mellow and easy going baby.  I hope our baby had a similar temperament!

The party was also part pool party which was also so much fun too!

Kiddos and friends and new friends everywhere.  There's Katie and I in the white hat and Mikey is cruising around in the blue and purple noodle.

My kids love these pottery barn pool lounge chairs.

Taking a break from the sun to dance in the shade.

Hope you enjoy this sweet video of Katie dancing.  God I love her!

Hi-Ho-Hi-Ho it's off on a hike we go

On my way to Whole Foods to stock up on some fruit and veggies, I spotted this little park off the side of the road and on impulse decided to pull over and explore a little.  I'm so glad I did.  It taught the kids about spontaneity, and how sometimes the best things are things you just stumble across.  It was such a cool little trail in the middle of a dense and lush forest.  It also had a gorgeous stream with huge boulders and the sounds of waterfalls were all around.

The start of our hike.  The kids had fun looking for the orange triangles, marking the path.

I love taking these two on adventures, no matter how small, it's always an experience and chance to make memories.

Taking a break by the waterfalls.  I plan on coming back with a picnic lunch to enjoy on one of the flatter boulders.

Throwing things into the stream to make ripples and see the fish and frogs jump.

Time for him to take charge.  The kids switched off and on being the hiking leader.

Cook your buns off race

For the second year in a row, I signed the kids up for the Whole Foods sponsored Cook Your Buns off Race at Tod's Point Beach in Greenwich, CT.

We met some friends there from school. The kids must have ran around and had so much fun with their friends that I swear they put at least 2 miles on their little legs before their race started!

Mikey took off running this year with his friends and ran the entire race by himself.  Scott said that he got an extra burst of energy when he saw the finish line and finished strong before getting his medal!  We are so proud of him as his competitive edge is starting to shine through.  Katie; bless her....she is super competitive and although she was one of the youngest competitors again this year she did the best she could running a mile on her little short legs.  She never gave up although there was some whining and had a strong finish too!

They have already asked when the next race is.

Silly Quinn and Mikey.  Quinn is 8 and off the charts for his size!

These boys were acting all sorts of silly before the race.

She was anti-pictures today so this was one of the few I got.

Not sure about the starting line or me taking a picture.

All the kids lined up and ready for the starting gun!

And their off!

Can you spot Mikey!

Here she comes.  Bringing up the rear.  I decided to run with her.

During the race.

She's still running.

Just about to cross the finish line.
So proud of these two!  That little stinker was still in a bad mood.

Strawberry Picking

The kids and I headed out early to take a little road trip to Jones Family Farms to pick some of the lush and ripe strawberries.  It was a hot morning and we were all sweaty but it was well worth it.  There isn't quite any way to explain just how good strawberries are when you eat them straight from the vine.  While Katie helped me pick out the perfectly red strawberries, Mikey was busy looking for all different kinds of bugs and worms by digging in the dirt.

I'd say we all had a good time and taking home our 10 + lbs. of strawberries ensures we have more good times at home!

We've arrived at Jones Family Farm and are taking the tractor ride out to the strawberry fields.

Despite the attitude in this photo, Katie is excited!

A few of the many strawberries she's picked!

Hum.....to pick a strawberry or dig in the dirt???

Mid-picking.

Moving down our assigned aisle. Katie has the water and strong Mikey has the berries.

Strawberry eating break.

Our harvest!

Tractor ride back!

Gorgeous red berries!
